When it comes to interior design, we all have our own idea of the perfect dream home, and we want to see it realized. After all, home is where the heart is, and your heart deserves the the home of your dreams. Therefore, when it comes time to renovate, remodel, or simply redecorate, the stakes are high, or, at least, they feel like they are. We want our home to be perfect, but it’;s hard to know what constitutes perfect, so it can be helpful to have a helping hand. Narrowing your focus is the first step to building your dream home, and narrowing your focus is easiest when you see examples of what has been done before. Here are a few tips for remodeling your home.
First and foremost, building your home around a theme is a great way to give your whole house a nice, cohesive feeling and really just make the whole thing come to life before your very eyes. One example of such a theme is an oceanic theme. This theme would start with a color palette of greens and blues evocative of the ocean, such as teal, seafoam, and turquoise. Then, you could add to it some thematically appropriate decor, such as seashells, an aquarium, or vintage diving gear replicas. You can also hang paintings, photos, and posters that are on theme, as well. However, a theme doesn’t have to apply to the whole house. You could have a unique theme for each room, a single themed room, or some combination thereof. The choice is up to you.
Another important thing to consider when renovating your home is what to do with free space. A spare room is a puzzle to be solved. There are so many possibilities for a spare room, so you have plenty of choices to consider. There’s the obvious and traditional choice of a guest bedroom, but if you never have company, that’s just a waste of space. It might be better for you to create a storage room where you can stow your Bass Pro gear and any other odds and ends that aren’t in use all the time. It could even be made into a home office or art studio to give you the quiet sanctum you need to get your work done, be it a personal passion project or some work that followed you home.
With these suggestions in mind, hopefully you’ve heard something that inspires you and gives you the starting point you need to plan your own dream home. If not, take my advice and simply do some research. You’re sure to find something that’ll get the creative juices flowing.
